Description
Beckley Furnace, located alongside the Blackberry River near Canaan, Connecticut, is a historic iron-making furnace whose main stack dates from 1847. John Adam Beckley built the furnace for the production of pig iron. It was in operation until 1919
Since 1946, it has been protected as a Connecticut state park known as Beckley Furnace Industrial Monument. It has also been known as East Canaan Iron Furnace Industrial Monument and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The stack was restored by the state in 1999.
